The brief was to design a Community Incubator to break the north/south divide created by the old Deeside railway running from Duthie park to Ballater, which was built for Queen Victoria to get to Balmoral castle. There were 7 different sites along the old railway - all located in Aberdeen city and Pitfodel is the furthest west of the possible sites - acting as a gateway to and from Aberdeen.
The community Incubator was to include activity spaces for young people, older people, rent-able office, bike maintenance room and a bakery.
